MY STORY

FAITH • FAMILY • FOOD

• FAITH •

The foundation of my daily life is my relationship with God.
Growing up Amish I learned to trust God in every part of my life. From an early age I was rooted in the love and grace of God.
No matter what storm in life you're going through, I have found God to always be the Answer.

• FAMILY •

I grew up Amish in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Though it seems like a strange way to live to the world, I feel so blessed to have grown up that way.
At 22 years of age I left home to join the mission field.
I served in Guatemala for 3 years of my life until I met my husband who was also doing mission work in Guatemala. We got hitched and soon had 2 beautiful girls.
We now live on a small farm where we enjoy farming, gardening and making pretzels.

• FOOD •

Pretzels are a huge part of the Amish food culture.
Growing up, I can't remember a time not eating these amazing
HOT FRESH BUTTERED SOFT PRETZELS.
We started Amish Pretzel Shop because it would be a shame not to share them with you and the world. There’s nothing like an authentic Amish Pretzel. They are
SO SCHLECKIN' GOOD!

FAQ

FAQ

Q. Can Amish drive cars?

A. No. They choose to live a simpler life.
They get around using a horse and buggy.

Q. Is the Amish Mafia TV show real?

A. No. Not at all. It may take place in Amish Country, but they are all actors. A mafia would go against everything that the Amish stand for.

Q. Do the Amish believe in gas power?

A. Yes, the Amish use gas. Bottled gas
is used to operate water heaters, modern stoves & refrigerators. Gas-pressured lanterns and lamps are used to light homes, barns, and shops.

Q. What language do Amish speak?

A. They speak Pennsylvania Dutch, which is a dialect of German. They learn English in school.

Q. Why don't Amish use electricity?

A. In 1919 the Amish leaders agreed that connecting to power lines would not be in the best interest of the Amish community. They did not make this decision because they thought electricity was evil, but because easy access to it could lead to many temptations and the deterioration of church and family life.

Q. What's up with the beards?

A. An Amishman does not shave his beard after he becomes married. A long beard is the mark of an adult Amishmen. Mustaches, on the other hand, have a long history of being associated with the military, and therefore are not worn by the Amish

Q. You live a normal American life now. Are you shunned from your family?

A. I am not shunned by my Amish family because I left for the mission field and never joined the Amish church. I go up and visit often and I'm welcomed by open loving arms.

MATT & KRISSY

Hi! My name is Krissy and my husband's name is Matt. We live in Central Florida on a small farm. From goats to chickens, we love everything about the simple farm life. We have 2 beautiful girls that love to roam the farm and help out wherever possible. We started Amish Pretzel Shop because it would be a shame not to share them with you and the world. For years we would have pretzel parties and invite friends & family over to our house to enjoy these pretzels. They were automatically hooked on them and we knew we had to get out and share these Amish Pretzels with everyone. Our dream for the future is to one day have our pretzel shop support our missions in Guatemala. We love to give back to those in need and our hearts are for the children and people in Guatemala. For 3 years of my life I lived in Guatemala and was connected with an orphanage there called Casa Shalom and that is where Matt and I actually met. He was on a separate mission trip when him and his team visited the same orphanage that I was teaching at. We feel God orchestrated our whole story. Guatemala just holds a special place in our hearts.

We would love to answer any questions about our pretzels, us and/or the Amish. Just stop by and chat with us or email us at AmishPretzelShop@gmail.com. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @AmishPretzels.

Thank you, God bless, and have a Vonderful Goot Day!
